
Vesak is undoubtedly the most sacred day of the Buddhist Calendar. It is celebrated with great reverence by Buddhists through “Amisa Pooja” (material offerings) and “Prathipaththi Pooja” (offering by practicing the Dhamma).
In 2008, Ottawa Theravada Buddhist Vihara and Cultural Center celebrated Vesak in grand style. Devotees participated in this program and showed respect to Buddha through “amisa pooja” and “prathipaththi pooja”, on Sunday 25 May, from 5.00pm to 9.00pm at Canadian Montessori Academy-70 Fieldrow St. ottawa.

The festival involved several activities including a display of a large Vesak Pandal, colorful lanterns, devotional songs, presentation by Dhamma School and Vesak Dansala.
